Choking Ibis (Option Command Remix)

The wonderful Option Command (aka Martyn Palmer) has delivered his remix of our track Choking Ibis and, as you will hear it is superb!

Martyn has recently released his debut EP Horizon Glows under his Option Command guise, in addition to his work as Broken Chip. He is an amazing artist and certainly someone to keep an eye on.

The remix will be included as a B-side on our third and final single from our album Softly Harboured and should be available soon, but for now check out the remix below.

Postfolkrocktronica Picnic @ Cockatoo Island

We are super excited to be playing a very special event amongst the amazing surrounds of Sydney's Cockatoo Island in November. Curated by FBi Radio's Utility Fog, the aptly titled 'Postfolkrocktronica Picnic' will play host to Pimmon, Option Command, Thomas William (aka Cleptoclectics), AFXJIM, Ollie Brown of Icarus playing a solo set and also as a duo with Raven and last but not least Underlapper.

Due to prior engagements we will be playing without a rhythm section, therefore we have decided to play a special one-off electronic set attempting tracks that we've never played live before.

Come along and enjoy some amazing music at one of Sydney's most breathtaking venues!

Tickets can be purchased here and you can find more information about the event here

Choking Ibis

Here is another cut from the new album entitled Choking Ibis.
The track features the wonderful Peter Hollo on cello and some choral assistance from Tim and Dan from Parades, Sally and Alexi from Kaya (now defunct) and our good friend Mark Olsen.

Here are some kind words from the East to West blog about the track:

Slicing it's way through an inaudible chatter, Underlapper's Choking Ibis penetrates the deepest of facades. A constant rumble of semi-psychedelic sounds are curtly intercepted by the wonders of Peter Hollo's cello, slowing stripping back the layers of humanity and revealing a sea of unknown wonders. Amongst the revelations, an orchestral soundscape is accompanied by the howls of Parades' boys Dan Cunningham and Tim Jenkens, before the track builds to a march of empowerment. As united as it is dichotic, Chocking Ibis is the most powerful song to be found on their latest release Softly Harboured. True joy can be found in the unexpected.

Remixes

A couple of new remixes have surfaced recently, the first of which comes from the wonderful duo Collarbones who added their distinct production style to our track Kandos. This remix can be found on their new mixtape Tiger Beats, which is a collection of cover songs and remixes and is somewhat of a prelude to their upcoming full length Iconography set for release this year through Melbourne label Two Bright Lakes.
You can download the mixtape from the Collarbones bandcamp page here

The second remix comes from the ever reliable Cleptoclectics (aka Tom Smith) who actually remixed a track from our previous album Red Spring and because we loved it so much we asked him to remix a track from the new album. Tom chose the track Elephant Shoe and his remix can be found on the latest mixtape from the excellent Oneofour Collective.
You can find all of the Oneofour mixtapes at the following link:
www.oneofour.net

This remix will also be included on the first single from Softly Harboured which will be out in the coming weeks.
To check out Tom's previous Underlapper remix head over to our bandcamp page and download it for free

Until then....

Recently Matt and I got together with our good friend Eli Murray (aka Gentleforce) to create a mixtape as a kind of teaser for the new album. We compiled and sequenced the tracks and Eli mixed, blended and messed around with them. It was lots of fun putting it together and we are really happy with the results.
In addition to featuring plenty of great music both old and new, the mix also features a couple of Underlapper tracks from the new album.
